Preventative Actions and Precautions

What you can do to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction:

  • ask people if they have allergies so you know what to be careful of
  • wash your hands before and after eating
  • read food allergen labels on packaging
  • do not share food
  • avoid cross contamination
  • eat in designated areas 
  • bring your own food if necessary
  • carry an epipen and other allergy medicine with you
  • carry a medical ID with you stating your medical conditions and carry instructions with what to do in case of an allergic reaction 
  • wear a medical bracelet or necklace listing allergens
